Nano and Clay Plot Bunny Contest!

It's that time again. Nanowrimo!

I'm doing what I did last year. A Clay Plot Bunny Drawing!

To sign up: Email me at magicalbookworm@gmail.com Place in the subject line Clay Plot Bunny Drawing. In the main email your Nanowrimo ID. Nothing more.

You can sign up starting now, the 24th of October! Sign up ends midnight November 1st! After midnight on the first all entries will be ignored.

The contest is open to everyone, everywhere.

There will be two drawings and thus two prizes! The two winners from last year are not able to enter for the first prize, but can go a head and try for the 2nd prize!

1. The first person to reach 50,000 words and email me (magicalbookworm@gmail.com ) with the Nano Clay Bunny Drawing 50K in the subject line (Make sure to add the 50K so I know you've reached that amount). You have to email me when you hit 50,000 words. I won't be checking everyone on the list daily. So if someone hits 50K and doesn't email me and someone else does, the first person to email me wins. Make sure to include your Nanowrimo name so I can double check your count.

2. At the end of the month, the person who has the most words win. This one might be a bit trickier. On the 30th through the 2nd you'll have to email me: Place in the subject Clay Plot Bunny and your total word count for the month. In the body your Nanowrimo name. I'll then see who has the most words on the 3rd and email said person. Make sure to include your Nanowrimo name so I can double check your count!

I am going to put in a stipulation – the winner of the 50K bunny can not win the most words written for Nanowrimo bunny. So two people will win bunnies this year.

Now what bunnies can you win?

The bunnies are here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=8157958

This is the shop link. If one of the winners wants a bunny from here, tell me and I'll take it off the shop list. Winners do not need to go through the check out process.

Here is the full list of what bunnies I have. I do have pictures of most of them here:

http://clayplotbunnies.googlepages.com/home

If I don't have a picture, there should be one somewhere on my computer I can place up on my webpage.

internet troubles

Gah!

I swear problems that shouldn't be big become big. Grr

No internet for over a week! a week.

Pcu.net the company i was with somehow (i have no idea) totally let our connection get dropped. Of course they had no idea what was happening. Then qwest had no idea what was happening.

Finally switched over to qwest fully and got the net back today. Finally.

Still can't get to twitter or yahoo on the main computer though. grrr Wonder what is wrong now.

Ideas Needed

So – I thought I'd fish for some clay plot bunny ideas. I have some sketches of a samurai bunny, tarot card reader bunny, crystal ball bunny, doctor bunny, phoenix bunny. I really should make a vampire/demon hunter bunny.

I have drawings for a grim reaper and a ninja, but I can't get the clothing to fold right with the clay so need some fabric before I try them.

I just made an archer bunny, vampire victim bunny and a frazzle editor bunny tonight. (They're cooling or I would post pictures).

But here's pictures for Zombie, Space, pirate, and a devil.

Clay bunnies - what other kind of post do I do?

Wow I feel bad I haven't updated LJ – for ever. Twitter and facebook have taken over my blog posts I think. I had to change my twitter name to Magic_BW :\ because my other name was killed. *sigh*

So I have new bunnies!

New pictures of bunnies:
http://clayplotbunnies.googlepages.com/allbunnies.JPG

I decided to use some colored clay this time and they turned out rather nice. I just forgot to place wire in the bunnies ears and some of them needed some superglue after they came from the oven. :\

Have enough colored clay to do a few more tonight. I was thinking a pirate. Maybe a zombie.

Need a new space one, laptop one, someone mentioned ninja, but I think I might need some black fabric to work with for that one.

List of what I have:

Coffee, Dancer, Geek, Punk, Historic (Dress) , Military, Angry (Crouching), Yellow Plain, Alien Yellow, Alien Green, Princess, Wizard, Angel, Ghost, Witch, Holding A Scroll, Holding A Pen, Artist , Mermaid, Gray, Black/Red, P.I, Knight, Captain.

These are the ones pictured: Western, Fairy, Vampire, Witch Orange, Witch Green, Bedtime.

I'm thinking of starting an Etsy site for the bunnies, even if my bracelet one hasn't worked that well :\. But I've been thinking with Nanowrimo coming up, it would be easier if the bunnies were on a site where there's a check out system.

I'll post when I get a site up. and also the free bunny for nano :D

New idea and a road block

So, I started a new idea just yesterday. It's going rather fast. Surprising really because the last few ideas have been happy to be paused after i get the characters in a few lines of the plot.

But this one feels differnet. I however have already hit a few stumbling blocks in the ploting of the story.

I was hoping that someone on my flist might be able to help.

I need questions a highschool teacher would ask a Sr. student in a Math, science class etc. and the answers. ;) I do want some rather hard questions. Questions that the teacher might not expect a student to answer.

Thanks

Plush Plot Bunny!

Ha made one finally! Picture kinda of flashed back on the white face he has.

http://magicalbookworm.googlepages.com/plushplotbunny.JPG

I'm not sure how much customized I could make one. (IE: Vampire, dancer, king, queen...) He needs the hat to hide his ear seems and to help them stand up. He can stand if you have a doll stand and he's about 20 inches with the ears.

I also need to work in my face making, his eyebrows went a bit werid.

New dog!

A miniature pinscher! :D Already have a four year old one. Odd to have a puppy in the house again.

Youngest cat (pictured) is really put out. She's hid all day (under the kichen sink of all places!)

Started Unseen last month. Book 3 of the Guild books. Still working on Fairies about 30K into it.

Downloaded Ywriter and found it's helping me sort out where the characters are for Fairies. Normally my urban fantasies just take place in one cities, but Fairies is all over the place :|

Got a quick read back on Ghosts. The reader liked it. Said after a few more edits it would be ready for an agent. :D need to get back to editing now. (Sending her a clay plot bunny for reading the novel.)

Just finished reading:

The Skewed Throne and The Cracked Throne by Joshua Palmatier. Nice set of fantasy books. I'll have to get the 3rd book now.

Guess I should go work in Unseen some more. :)

Copyright rules

Are the 'rules' of copy rights changing because of the internet?

I've been over at the Writers Wrules site for a few months and I started a discussion about posting writing on only password protected sites.

The site was made from a group of people that broke off of the Harper Collins Authonomy site. They are a site that allows writers to post their work for everyone to see. There's whole novels posted there. You then get reviews from the people there that pushes you toward an editor desk and from there a chance to get published. (I have no idea how many people have had this chance)

Now at the Writer's Wrules site you can password protected your writing. So people do have to sign into see your work. But then anyone can sign up.

Another site Scribophile has work that's opened to the public and work that is password protected, but anyone can sign up. You do have to pay to post more then three items though. (I did however get amazing crits at that site!) Again though – anyone can sign up and see the work.

Then there's the Forward Motion site. You can post chapters/shorts to the roving crit groups, but anyone can sign up and see them. The only place that is truly password protected are the private crit groups.

So the question comes back where is save to post your writing for a crit?

The people over at the Writer Wrules site say that the internet copy right issues are changing. That one shouldn't care that a novel is out in the open for everyone to see. More chance of some agent coming to the site and seeing what you have to offer etc…

I've always been told. Don't put your writing in a place where you don't need a password to get in. But if you're on a site where anyone can sign up and see what's their. Those people would still be able to take your writing. A person can sign up in seconds.

Does one need to find a group that limits the people that are allowed in? Like the Dreaming in Ink site? (They even send chapters through email rather then post them on the internet.)

Should one stay away from groups that allow you to post your work free to the public? Do agents and publishers down a day care if it's out in the open? Or do they still consider it published and they won't touch it?

I wish there was something that could tell me the right or wrong of this. I feel very confused about the issues. (I know it's come up more times then I can count.) But with the talk over at the Wrules site it seems to me that an invite only site is the safest place to post work.

7 days of no writing

This cold that hit last week has taken me down. I've only gotten a few hundred words here and there.

I'm near the end of the 2 book in the Guild seires and I knew I would slow down, but the cold has made any progress vanish.

I also haven't edited. Or done much in the way of crits. *sigh*

How does one get back to the writing after so many days of... not?

Maybe I'll start with a low goal of like 500 words and work my way back to 1500. (guess I should start today.)

On another note! I have been hanging out at a new crit site, I don't know if I've posted the link here or not.

At the site you can upload chapters of your novels and even make sure that they are password protected.

There's quiet a large group and the site is looking for even more writers! And any genre is welcome!

The site is:

I'm the one with the clay plot bunny as an icon ;)

Massive Outline (Guild Life)

Writing writing and more writing...

just crossed page 14 of the outline and have 39 pages to go!

So far 184,737 words for the series.

hmm about 13K for each page of the outline that means I have about 500K more to go. Yesh - I shouldn't do the math for this series.

Yet slowly making progress. So that's good :)

Books

Two books I've bought this month

Turn Coat - Jim Butcher

Bloodhound - Tamora Pierce

I loved both of them. The 11 book of the Dresden files was great!

The long waited book from Tamora was even better :D

Now what to read?

Essential Peace - fantasy novel

Is finished.
I've dragged myself through editing this novel. It's taken forever. While I wrote this novel I hated it, I thought that once I started editing it, I would be fine, I still dislike it - though I rather like the last few pages. ;)

But it's done. I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Maybe I'll post it over at http://www.writerswrule.com/ or add it to the list over at the novel club... hmm (strangly I'm still leaning toward the delete button, but if I didn't push it while I was editing I guess I shouldn't now.

Now to decide what else to edit... hmmm

a very cool site

I can't seem to help myself. I joined another group. It's a group for novels. I wasn't going to post anything, but I got lucky and talked to the creator of the site and he told me how to password protect anything I post.

Site is:

http://www.writerswrule.com/

Right now it's a very new group. It's free. You don't need to post crits to post your work, so right now it's running on a you read my work I'll read yours etc. I've read some first chapters on the group so far and they're rather good.

I still like the http://www.scribophile.com/ but the cost is making me stop from going any farther on the site. I might drop it and continue over at www.writerswrule.com

Crazy

I joined www.scribophile.com/ and I love the site. Found out you have to have a pro account to post more then three things and thinking very hard if I want to spend 5 bucks a month for that.

On the other hand I've gotten some great crits there and suprisingly enough more on Peace then I would have thought. And the shocking part. Everyone likes it! (Dies)

This is the novel I've cursed at. The novel I've wanted to rip to peices. To delete and forget about it. To stop and never look at again (I've only done that twice) The novel that I - love the idea to, but still hate it for reasons I still have yet to find out. I dread opening this novel up and working on the edits because of the crazy phrases that are all over the place. Ones that make no sense at all and have me delete paragraphs and trying to decide what I really meant to say.

And 8 crits of people liking has my head spinning! I thought for sure everyone would feel the same as I did. But so far they like the Main character, Andry, the child of the Faye that has blue skin and is heading off to a human city to become the key to a peace between the Faye, Shide and humans.

50 pages of editing on the book and I don't want to even look at it. (sigh) I'm never going to get this novel done at this rate.

More pictures

More designs at http://sites.google.com/site/wovenbracelets/ :D Hope the scans didn't turn out to dark. (Might just be my monitor.) Need to get some more designs, working on a cool pattern that I've tried a dozen times, but can't get it to work. Just printed out a color guide for it, so I hope I'll be able to get the pattern to work now. (Let's hope)

In another news I joined. http://www.scribophile.com/ I had never heard of it until today. Looks cool. You have to crit to get points to post. So it should keep out those that just post and post and never return a crit, right? I'm still poking around the site, seeing what's what.
